The BlackBerry DTEK60 is a premium range smartphone that succeeds the BlackBerry DTEK50. The phone runs Android 6.0.1, features a 5.50-inch touchscreen display and improvements in all other aspects over the DTEK50.
Display and Design
The phone features a 5.50-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display with a pixel density of 534 PPI that shows brilliant visuals for entertainment and gaming, while also displaying sharp text for e-reading. This is an upgrade over the 5.2-inch Full HD display in the DTEK50. The device itself measures 153.9 x 75.4 x 7 mm while weighing 165 grams, a noticeable difference from the DTEK50’s 147 x 72.5 x 7.4 mm and 135 gram dimensions.
Platform and Memory
The device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with BlackBerry’s UI on top, on 2.15 GHz and 1.6 GHz octa-core Kyro processors with 4GB of RAM on a Snapdragon 820 chipset that will handle any task with ease. Storage space on the phone is 32GB that can be expanded to 2TB via microSD that fits into a dedicated slot. The DTEK50 also ran Android 6.0.1 but on a Snapdragon 617 SoC and 3GB of RAM. The phone came with 16GB of internal storage also expandable to 2TB with an SD card. Graphics on the DTEK60 is handled by an Adreno 405 GPU.
Cameras and Battery
The front camera on the device is 21-megapixels with the ability to take quality images. The phone is equipped with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and a 6-element f/2.0 aperture that help in capturing such images while the DTEK50 came with a 13-megapixel rear camera with similar features. The 60 can record in 4K at 30fps and HD in 120 fps while the 50 can record in Full HD at 30 fps. The rear camera on the phone is 8-megapixels featuring an 84-degree wide-angle lens and an f/2.2 aperture, same as the one seen in the DTEK50. The device is powered by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that lasts a day. The chipset with Quick Charge 3.0 enables the device to attain a significant amount of charge in a short duration.
Connectivity and other features
The single nano-SIM phone supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS aided by A-GPS, and NFC. Sensors on the phone include an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor, accelerometer. The device also features a fingerprint sensor.
